Services

Unite For Youth identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education and has focused our efforts and resources on Metro Atlanta’s most violent neighborhoods in order to change the status quo that has already taken too many young lives. We accomplish our mission through gang violence prevention/intervention, youth development, and coalition building.

PROGRAMS

Prevention:

Unite for Youth helps young people beat the odds by offering positive, empowering in-school, after-school, and out-of-school programs including academic tutoring and public speaking activities.

Impact of Prevention Program: 

  • 80% OF PREVENTION YOUTH RECEIVING TUTORING SHOWED IMPROVEMENT IN ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE.
  • 59% DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF YOUTH THAT EXHIBITED AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR ON A WEEKLY BASIS
  • 22% INCREASE IN YOUTH WITH NO DISCIPLINARY ISSUES.

Intervention:

Unite for Youth is committed to serving Atlanta’s youth who are facing the greatest risks. By offering both individualized as well as community-based programming by opening doors for youth who many have given up on, empowering them to take charge of their lives, futures, and communities by bringing together ex-gang members, police, and neighborhood kids to create positive alternatives to street life and to build essential bonds that last a lifetime. Intensive mentoring provides troubled youth with the support and opportunities needed to develop goals and hold themselves accountable.

Impact of Intervention Program: 

  • 59% DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF YOUTH THAT EXHIBITED AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR ON A WEEKLY BASIS.
  • 54% DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF YOUTH THAT ARE GANG AFFILIATED.
  • 50% DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF YOUTH RECEIVING THREE OR MORE SUSPENSIONS.

Juvenile Justice:

Provide alternatives for detention services to youth awaiting court and support for youth reentering the community.

Project L.E.A.D

Project L.E.A.D. (Letting Everyone Achieve Dreams) helps inspire youth to look beyond barriers in their lives and focus on a future with opportunity and achievement. Project L.E.A.D.  exposes low-income, often-overlooked students to the possibility of becoming the first in their families to go to college, graduate and create careers connecting them to resources they need to achieve their aspirations.
